A sell-out crowd of nearly 350 current and past parents, alumni, current and former faculty, trustees, and friends of the school gathered on Saturday, April 16 to celebrate Sam's 25 years of leadership at Drew. Guest were treated to refreshments in the tented courtyard as well as a photo booth and a memory walk room with a timeline highlighting Drew milestones over the past 25 years.
Guests then filled the theater for a program of roast and toasts. Alumni parent and former Board Chair Jim Hine served as the MC for the program which featured speakers spanning Sam's tenure at Drew, the presentation of a commissioned painting by Drew Beam '95, and a video of stories and well wishes from former board members. Following a special video of alumni speaking about great teaching moments they experienced at Drew, auctioneer and alumni parent Piers MacKenzie conducted a paddle-raise for The Cuddeback Faculty Fund. Through gifts that night and those leading up to the event, the Fund has raised a total of $625,000 to date for increases in teachers' salaries, professional development, and program enhancements.
It was a special night for Drew and for Sam as he prepares to retire on June 30.
