About Us

Matt Koidin

Matt is the CTO of BreakAway Data. Previously he was a Vice President at the Mozilla Corporation. Matt was a part of the founding team of Pocket, which Mozilla acquired in 2017, and served as the founding CTO and later General Manager.

Matt joined the entrepreneur ranks while still an undergraduate at Stanford University, founding a company called Justarrive, one of the first e-ticket companies. That experience hooked Matt on being an entrepreneur and since then his journey has included stints at four startups, Microsoft, and strategy consulting with Deloitte.

Matt was previously a founding co-chair of the Presidio Knolls School, a progressive mandarin immersion preK through 8th grade school in San Francisco. Matt is a recipient of the Fuqua Alumni Impact Award for his role as co-chair of the Duke Global Entrepreneurship Network. Matt also currently serves on the board of the Girls Unite Soccer Club.

Matt believes in building community around education and is excited to be a part of supporting that at Drew. Through his professional career and time on the board of a young school, he brings an anything is possible attitude and looks forward to supporting Drew’s next iteration as we work to empower our students to find their voices.

Matt has east coast roots growing up outside of Boston and attending both public and private schools as a child. He got his first taste of the Bay Area when he came to study Computer Science at Stanford University. A fortuitous decision to head to North Carolina for business school led him to meet his wife, Christine, at Duke’s Fuqua School of Business. In 2008, Matt and Christine moved back to the Bay Area to start their family. His daughter, Maile, is a freshman at Drew and his younger daughter, Lauren, is a middle school student.

In his free time, you’ll find Matt chasing Lauren around at various Bay Area soccer fields, working on his annual reading goals (35 books in 2024!) and cheering on his Boston sports teams from afar (and the local Bay Area ones...when they aren’t facing his beloved Beantown favorites).
