About Us

Paul Hammond

Paul Hammond is a software engineering leader and consultant. He’s spent the last twenty years helping companies scale, from small teams to household names, including time at Slack, Adobe, Flickr and the BBC. He’s built parts of the technical infrastructure that powers these services. He’s also worked on the culture and operational processes that allow people from different backgrounds to work together on their common goals.

Paul believes deeply in the power of community, especially when it comes to education. His children have attended many different types of schools, including cooperatives, public schools and independent schools. All of them work best when parents, administrators and faculty work as a team to facilitate learning and exploration. Paul hopes to bring his experience of collaborative workplaces to his work on Drew’s board.

Drew believes in teenagers, and Paul has seen the impact of this first hand. His oldest son Tom (class of 2024) developed an interest in both student government and economics during his time at Drew, and is now attending Northeastern University where he’s studying Economics and Business Administration.

Paul was born in the UK, and holds a degree in Mathematics from the University of Warwick. He now lives in San Francisco with his wife Meg, and his sons James (class of 2028) and Alex. He enjoys snowboarding in the winter, running in the summer, and exploring the world with his family.
